Enemies

Edengrove is the great stronghold of the Angry Earth. Other territories contain Dryads, elemental beasts, or isolated Angry Earth enclaves, but Edengrove is described as their home, bastion, and communal center. The territory’s enemies therefore feel less like invaders and more like defenders of a homeland.

Travel through Edengrove means entering a landscape where the vegetation, animals, and humanoid guardians can all become expressions of the same natural power.

Enemy Families

Ancient RemnantsAncient ruins remain throughout Edengrove, though the living Angry Earth has largely reclaimed the landscape around them.

The Angry Earth

The Angry Earth is Aeternum’s natural defense made physical. In Edengrove, Dryads and elemental beings occupy settlements, groves, ruins, and sacred spaces with a level of concentration seen nowhere else on the island.

Common forms include humanoid Angry Earth defenders, prowlers, Terrawolves, and other creatures that combine plant, animal, and elemental traits. Powerful champions such as Baines demonstrate how dangerous these guardians become in the territory’s elite areas.

The important distinction is that these enemies are not fighting to conquer Edengrove. From their perspective, they already belong there. Adventurers are the intruders.

Blight and the Garden of Genesis

Edengrove is also central to the story of Blight, a contaminating force capable of twisting the Angry Earth itself. This conflict reaches its clearest expression in the Garden of Genesis, a sacred nursery and birthplace of the Angry Earth that has been threatened by spreading Blight.

Enemies such as Alluvium Marl, the Caretaker, and the Blighted Greenskeeper represent different sides of that ecological crisis. Some protect the garden; others show what happens when its defenders are themselves altered by the forces consuming it.

The result is one of the more unusual enemy conflicts on Aeternum: adventurers enter the heart of an already-hostile civilization while also confronting the corruption of that civilization’s own natural order.

Powerful Guardians

Edengrove contains numerous named Angry Earth enemies and elite encounters. Among the most notable are:

  • Baines — A powerful Angry Earth target encountered in Edengrove’s elite territory.
  • Alluvium Marl, the Caretaker — A major guardian within the Garden of Genesis.
  • Blighted Greenskeeper — A dangerous Blight-affected enemy within Genesis.
  • Well Guardian — A major Angry Earth guardian encountered during the territory’s storyline.
  • Forcos and Abiogenesis — Additional powerful Angry Earth creatures associated with Edengrove’s elite areas.

Notable Enemy Areas

  • Garden of Genesis — The territory’s defining Angry Earth expedition and a major location for the story of Blight.
  • Spire Perilous / Seniab — Elite territory associated with Baines.
  • Tor Scath — An Angry Earth-held location.
  • Malevolence and surrounding elite areas — Home to Blighted Dryads and powerful Angry Earth enemies.

The Enemy Landscape

Edengrove reverses the normal relationship between civilization and wilderness. Human settlements are the exception; the Angry Earth is the established power.

Its enemies therefore reveal something important about Aeternum as a whole. The island is not empty land waiting to be claimed. Edengrove shows that Aeternum possesses forces capable of recognizing intrusion, organizing a defense, and fighting to preserve a natural order that humanity may never fully understand.
