Lore
The lore of Elysian Wilds begins with the destruction of another territory. It cannot be understood without First Light, because the jungle, ruins, creatures, and new powers of Elysian Wilds were created through the deliberate transformation of land that had already been settled for generations.
The Fall of First Light
First Light was once a familiar coastal territory. Its disappearance was gradual from the perspective of the wider island: access was cut off, a dangerous barrier formed, and the fate of the inhabitants became uncertain. When the region was finally entered again, the old landscape had been overwhelmed.
This event is one of the clearest demonstrations that the geography of Aeternum itself can be rewritten by supernatural power.
Artemis
Artemis is the central figure behind the transformation. Her hostility toward humanity reflects the broader Angry Earth belief that people are a disease upon Aeternum. The remaking of First Light into Elysian Wilds was therefore not random natural growth; it was an act of reclamation and punishment.
The Beast Lords
The enormous concentration of primal power awakened the Beast Lords. Their domains and signets connect the territory to powerful animal archetypes, including horse, wolf, ape, mammoth, and other great beasts. These beings are not simply oversized animals. They represent ancient, concentrated forces of the reshaped ecosystem.
The emergence of the Beast Lords also led to one of the territory’s most important practical discoveries: the ability to tame and ride mounts.
The Tear of Gaea
Later events connect Elysian Wilds to the Tear of Gaea and Morgaine. The artifact becomes part of a wider struggle over powers capable of influencing the island itself, eventually leading beyond the Wilds and into Nighthaven.
A Territory Reborn
Elysian Wilds is therefore a story about replacement rather than ordinary ruin. First Light was not abandoned and left to decay; it was overwritten. Human roads and settlements became layers beneath a new living territory created by the same forces that oppose humanity elsewhere on Aeternum.
