Mourningdale

Mourningdale

Mourningdale is a rain-soaked northern grassland of farms, cliffs, old camps, and storm-battered coastline. Unlike territories dominated by a single great ruler or catastrophe, much of Mourningdale’s identity comes from the accumulated lives of ordinary settlers, explorers, smugglers, sailors, and scholars.

Its local writings tell of Antiquary Addams, Azoth smugglers, expeditions, personal tragedies, public notices, and the daily effort required to survive in a wet and isolated frontier. That makes the region valuable as a record of how people attempted to build normal lives despite Aeternum’s abnormal conditions.

Yet Mourningdale is not entirely mundane. The far north carries hints of something older, and the territory’s melancholy atmosphere reflects the way the island stretches human experience across years and deaths that should never have been possible. Mourningdale’s lore is less about one empire falling and more about the slow emotional weight of living forever in a place that refuses to become home.
