Lore

Restless Shore is one of the most important territories for understanding the Lost because its undead inhabitants often retain habits, rivalries, organization, and recognizable personalities.

Pirates Who Did Not Stop Being Pirates

The shore is filled with pirate histories. Records of heists, captain’s orders, rules, gambling, drinking, treasure, and captivity show crews that continued to function as social groups even after death ceased to work normally.

Becoming Lost did not necessarily erase every part of who these people had been. In many cases, it appears to have trapped them inside old patterns.

Fangsnap’s Reign and Old Rivalries

Local stories such as Fangsnap’s Reign preserve the rise of pirate leaders and conflicts that outlived ordinary lifespans. Other chapters describe eternal conflict and eternal resting places, emphasizing the contradiction at the heart of the region: people can die repeatedly without achieving a true end.

O’Connor and Maritime Legends

O’Connor’s stories and other seafaring accounts preserve a more adventurous side of the coast. Restless Shore has always been shaped by ships, trade, storms, fishing, and the dangers of moving between islands.

Lady Fathom

The legend of Lady Fathom, sometimes described as a Mother of the Deep, appears in the broader coastal folklore of Aeternum. Sailors offer respect to powers associated with the sea because on Aeternum even stories that would be dismissed as superstition elsewhere may describe something real.

Sentient Lost

The official description of Restless Shore specifically draws attention to Lost behaving with a degree of sentience that should not be possible. This is the region’s most important lore theme.

The Lost are not a uniform condition. Some are barely more than wandering corpses; others preserve enough identity to command crews, maintain territory, enforce rules, and pursue old desires. Restless Shore is where that unsettling continuity is most visible.
