Weaver’s Fen combines Ancient infrastructure, disease, undeath, and human experimentation more tightly than almost any other territory. Beneath the swamp are signs that this region once formed part of a sophisticated network of roads, bridges, wards, and settlements.

Ancient Roads and Wards

The Ancient bridge systems are especially important. Translated glyphs indicate that some routes served as major supply lines, while magical devices were positioned to ward against danger, likely including Corruption.

Most of those devices have been destroyed or removed, leaving later researchers to reconstruct their purpose from fragments.

The Corpse Crone

The Corpse Crone is the territory’s most important scholar and one of its most disturbing figures. Her writings investigate flora, fungi, disease, anger, and the transition between life and the Lost. She also studied Ancient glyphs and attempted to understand the power source behind Ancient defensive devices.

Her research shows how close scientific curiosity on Aeternum can come to obsession. The island provides genuine supernatural phenomena to study, but the researcher is never safely outside the experiment.

Canopus

The Canopus Expedition followed reports of unnatural blue flames near the ruins. Like similar Azoth phenomena elsewhere, the sight was both beautiful and threatening, drawing people toward Ancient locations they knew might be dangerous.

Venla’s Journey

Venla’s diary records an unusually long path through secrets, strange banners, mountains, plague, blood-colored waters, battle, exhaustion, and discovery. Her story gives the Fen a connection to wider events beyond its immediate swamp.

Disease and the Lost

Local accounts describe sickness of the flesh and the presence of Lost plague. This makes Weaver’s Fen a key territory for the question of how physical disease, emotional states, and supernatural transformation interact on Aeternum.

The Thing in the Swamp

Stories of the Thing in the Swamp add another layer of uncertainty. Even after generations of study, not every danger in Weaver’s Fen can be neatly classified as Ancient, Lost, Corrupted, or Angry Earth.

The Fen remains a place where old systems have broken down, new experiments have gone wrong, and the swamp has absorbed the evidence.
