Music

Music is a rhythm-action Trade Skill that allows players to perform songs throughout Aeternum. Performances can be played solo or with a group, reward Music XP, and provide useful long-duration buffs when completed successfully.

Instruments

Five instrument types form the Music system:

  • Guitar
  • Mandolin
  • Upright Bass
  • Drums
  • Azoth Flute

Starter instruments can be obtained through Music-related content, while better instruments can be crafted through Furnishing. Instruments can also carry Music-specific perks that affect performance and progression.

Songs and Song Pages

Songs are learned by collecting and salvaging song pages found throughout Aeternum. A song may include parts for one or more instruments, allowing players to perform alone or assemble a group of up to five musicians.

Performance quality depends on correctly completing the rhythm sequence. Better performances award more Trade Skill XP and improve the strength or duration of the resulting buff.

Music Buffs

Music progression unlocks several useful buff families:

BuffPrimary Benefit
Decidedly DexterousGathering Speed
Territorial TriumphTerritory Standing gain
All Together NowShared group character XP
Song in Your StepEncumbrance-related benefit
Fortune’s FavorGathering Yield
Luck’s LaborGathering Luck

These buffs make Music especially valuable to players working on Gathering routes or other long-duration activities.

Progression

Music can be leveled independently like other Trade Skills. XP is awarded through performances, with accuracy, performance quality, relevant perks, and group size contributing to progression.

Music therefore serves two purposes at once: it is a collectible rhythm minigame built around songs and instruments, and a practical support skill capable of improving several other forms of progression.
