Gathering

Gathering Trade Skills determine what raw resources a character can collect throughout Aeternum. Nearly every crafting chain begins here: ore must be mined, trees must be logged, plants must be harvested, creatures must be skinned, and fish must be caught before those materials can enter the refining and crafting economy.

Each Gathering skill levels independently and rewards continued use with access to higher-level resources, improved tracking, and increasingly valuable materials.

Gathering Progression

The Gathering level cap is 250. Progression controls access to increasingly advanced resources and contributes to resource tracking on the compass. The level-205 tier introduced with Rise of the Angry Earth added important endgame resources such as Mythril Ore, Runewood, Spinfiber, Dark Hide, and Prismatic Barb.

Gathering can also produce rare secondary materials used in specialized recipes. High-level gathering therefore remains useful even when the common resource itself is not the main target.

Speed, Yield, and Luck

Three bonuses appear frequently throughout gathering equipment and buffs:

  • Gathering Speed reduces the time required to complete a gathering action.
  • Gathering Yield increases the amount of material received from eligible gathering sources.
  • Gathering Luck improves the chance of receiving uncommon or rare drops from eligible sources.

These bonuses can come from gathering tools, profession equipment, food, trophies, Music buffs, and other effects. Because they modify different parts of the gathering process, they should be treated as separate statistics rather than interchangeable bonuses.

From Gathering to Crafting

Raw resources usually move into a Refining profession before becoming useful to a crafter. This creates the core Trade Skill chain used throughout Aeternum:

Gathering → Refining → Crafting

A player can specialize in only one part of that chain for trading purposes, or level every connected skill to become largely self-sufficient.
