Refining
Refining Trade Skills convert raw gathered resources into the processed materials required by New World: Aeternum’s crafting professions. Ore becomes ingots, wood becomes planks, hides become leather, fibers become cloth, and stone is processed into advanced stone and gem-related materials.
Refining forms the middle layer of Aeternum’s economy, connecting gatherers directly to crafters.

Refining Progression
Refining skills can be leveled to 250. Higher levels unlock advanced material recipes and improve the profession’s ability to produce resources efficiently. The expansion-era progression introduced a major milestone at level 205, followed by the premium Prismatic material line at level 250.
Refining professions can also receive bonus output. Skill level contributes to the chance of receiving additional materials from eligible recipes, while profession-specific equipment and other bonuses can further improve refining efficiency.
Why Refining Matters
Refining is one of the strongest links between the open-world resource economy and endgame crafting. Even players who do not craft finished equipment can generate useful materials for other players by converting raw resources into higher-tier components.
Because advanced recipes frequently require materials from several different refining professions, a high-level crafter often depends on multiple refiners—or levels the relevant refining skills personally.
